Industry-Leading Training for the Building Services Sector
Hello, I’m Richard Firth, founder of Viva Training Academy and I’d like to welcome you to our new website.
Our training academy in Halifax opened mid-2018 and we’ve built up a wide range of qualifications to help you succeed. At the last count, we offer 30 courses in Gas, Electrics, Plumbing, LPG, Oil and F-Gas and we’re here to support installers with extras such as business training to help you get you off to a great start.
I’ve got over two decades of experience behind me. I have my own heating and insulation business and we installed over a thousand boilers a year, year on year, so I know what it’s like. All our trainers are the same, we’re real engineers with real experience to pass on.
Working in the building services sector offers great career prospects. There are so many routes you can take and it’s satisfying to be able to really make a difference to people’s lives while contributing to environmental targets such as improving the sustainability of our buildings.
From gas…
Being a gas engineer is really rewarding and offers an excellent standard of living, if not the best out of all the trades. There’s never being a better time to be a building services installer, we’re living in the era of fastest technological advancement of all time. I assume the responsibility to keep a balanced view of how the industry is unfolding and I want to equip you with the tools to succeed in tomorrow’s world; whether you’re a qualified engineer progressing or simply keeping your ACS up to date or you’re embarking on a new career journey. 23 million homes at present rely on natural gas for their heating and hot water. There is a recorded skills shortage in the skills sector and each year the industry loses high numbers of engineers to retirement. If and when we move to technologies such as hydrogen, gas installers are best-placed to fulfil this demand.
…to F Gas
With the focus being more and more on sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies, heat pumps and air-conditioning are a really exciting area to explore. Gaining the F-Gas qualification will allow you to offer these technologies to your customers. Commercially, the refrigeration sector has been cleaning up its act, and these changes – the F Gas Regulations – mean there’s a lot to learn. Domestically, heat-pumps present a practical solution for those who want to find a cleaner, greener way to heat their homes. Whether you’re looking for a career in the commercial or domestic sphere, we’re here to help you hit the ground running.
Worcester Bosch Approved
We are proud to be Worcester Bosch approved because their ethos of a customer-first focus fits hand in glove with the way we deliver our training and support our learners; from reassessments to up-skilling training and certification.
LCL Awards approved
We offer LCL Awards qualifications as I believe they’re the best. Their F Gas qualifications, for example, are the only Level 3s currently available.
We’re always looking forward and have plans to increase our range of electrical courses next year – and move into commercial gas qualifications.
Training for all
We’re an inclusive training centre and keen to help everyone have a chance. We’ve built links with local charities to help disadvantaged groups get qualified and find work and we’re putting together bespoke training packages for school leavers. Whoever you are, Viva is here to help – responding to market demands and the needs of individuals is at the heart of what we do.
Do come and see us at our open days – we’d be delighted to show you round!
