Viva’s also Worcester Bosch approved to deliver F Gas training – we train their engineers and use Worcester’s state of the art heat pump appliances as part of our practical assessment.

Do I need F Gas training?

If you work with equipment that uses F Gas – a substance which can be harmful to the environment – then you need training in order to comply with the F Gas Regulations.

Appliances covered include air conditioning and refrigeration systems, as well as heat pumps, an increasingly popular choice for home heating in the UK.

According to the F Gas Regulations, qualifications have to be renewed every five years. As the industry’s constantly evolving, with new technology and less harmful refrigerants introduced, its essential installers working with F Gas keep their knowledge up to date.

How long does it take to get F-Gas trained?

Our LCL Awards Category 1 course takes five days in total, focusing on safe working practices for F-Gas using equipment, such as air conditioning and heat pumps in both domestic and commercial-sized systems.

The qualification covers F Gas Categories 1-4, and focuses on:

  • Installation
  • Maintenance
  • Decommissioning
  • Refrigerant recovery
  • Checking and preventing F Gas leakage

Over the five days, theory and practical elements are covered, including pipework construction and the fabrication and fitting of mechanical brazed joints.

In addition to the technicalities, F Gas training also touches upon the cause and effects of global warming, highlighting the importance of the F Gas Regulations.
