Gas ACS Initial Assessment Course

We offer multiple ACS courses. Our accredited ACS initial Assessment is for existing Gas Safe Registered installers who need to renew their qualifications after expiring for over 12 months. If your ACS is about to expire or expired less than 11 months ago, you can sit the ACS Reassessment. Reassessment must take place every five years for these qualifications to remain valid and you can take your Course up to 6 months before expiry. This course is not an Extension of Scope. If you want to add appliance codes to your qualification, you must enquire about our ACS Extension of Scope Course.

The ACS Initial Assessment covers CCN1 (gas safety) plus four other optional appliances.

CENWAT: Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
CKR1: Cookers
HTR1: Space Heaters (including Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)
MET 1: Meters

Five years is a long time and even the most experienced gas engineer might feel a little rusty. We include free refresher training for candidates who want a recap on the theoretical part of the ACS assessment.

What does ACS training entail?

Whether initial, or reassessment, ACS Assessment is broken down into two parts – theoretical and practical examinations.

The theory-based section is an ‘open book’ question paper; you will also have access to British Standards, IGEM Standards, Technical bulletins, and any other relevant documentation that can be used as references along with the training manual.

Practical examinations are completed in VIVA’s purpose-built ACS assessment bays.

Benefits of ACS

This course is exclusively designed to gain your ACS Certificate. The benefit of this is you can continue to trade and renew your Gas Safe Registration.

ACS Requirements & Qualifications

You must provide your previous ACS Certificate which shows your appliance qualification codes and expiry date. Upon successfully completing the course, you can renew your gas safe registration and trade.

This Course is based in our Halifax Training centre close to the M62 with great access from all over the country.

Our purpose built centre offers state of the art classrooms and workshops where you can demonstrate your practical knowledge. Our facilities have a range of gas appliances where the practical assessments take place.

Our ACS Initial Assessment Course starts at £2400 inc VAT. The price will depend on how much training you feel you will need. You can get in touch with us to discuss this with us. The decided on price includes everything you will need during your journey with us over the 4 days.

Paying by deposit

We understand that as important as investing in yourself is, the full total cost can be a lot in one go, that’s why we offer a £500 deposit is required to secure your place on the course. The remaining balance will be due 3 weeks before the commencement of the course. We will contact you via email to arrange for your start with us and invoicing for the remaining balance.
