F-gas certificates issued by UK certification bodies are sadly no longer recognised in the 27 EU states following BREXIT.
This means that certified operatives can no longer trade legally in Europe, unless they quickly tap into a scheme set up by the Irish Republic to ensure that UK-certified operatives can carry on working in Ireland.
Effectively, the initiative allows UK registered operatives to swap their certification for an equivalent accreditation, valid in the Irish Republic – and by extension, the rest of Europe.
The programme, administered by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency, relates to UK qualifications and certificates issued before 31st December 2020, relating to maintaining and servicing equipment containing ODS (Ozone Depleting Substances).
Don’t miss the 30th April deadline!
The scheme costs nothing and requires no new training, but you’ll need to be quick if you want to benefit, as it closes on 30th April 2021. Applications for certification need to be made online. To find out more, please click here
For those that miss the deadline, UK F-gas personnel certificates will be recognised in Ireland until 30th June 2021.
After that date operatives will need to get a recognised qualification and certification from one of the 27 EU member states.
