We’re thankfully moving steadily forward on Boris Johnson’s road map out of COVID Lockdown, but for many, a holiday abroad this year is considered too great a risk – because of coronavirus and also the chance that things may change at the last minute. Given the steep rise in bookings for holiday accommodation and caravan parks across the UK, it appears that a British summer break is a safer bet and holds more appeal.
VisitBritian has recently upgraded its forecast for this year, suggesting that there will be a £51.2bn recovery in domestic tourism spending in 2021. This being the case, it looks as though the UK holiday industry is set to recoup some of the money it lost because of the pandemic last year.
Experienced gas engineers holding valid LPG Changeover qualifications will also benefit from this growth in tourism as private owners and holiday businesses need to get the LPG appliances in their accommodations, caravans and camper vans checked and approved by a professional.
If you’re a qualified gas engineer looking to up-skill, this seasonal boost in work is worth considering, especially as the demands of domestic natural gas heating can tail off a bit during spring and summer
To start with, you’ll need to an LPG Changeover qualification (CONGLP1) to ensure that you are experienced in the safe handling of LPG and the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of LPG appliances.
The course we offer is flexible and you can choose from a range of modules to suit your requirements. There’s a module covering LPG closed flue gas fires and a range of site specific units covering LPG appliances in:
For those who already hold a CONGLP1 qualification, we offer single day courses focussing on each of the four site-specific modules so that you can build up a range of qualifications to suit your business requirements. Training and assessment can be achieved in a day for each appliance and in each case you’ll cover commissioning, installation, servicing and repair.

Viva offers a range of gas courses, for existing Gas Safe Registered engineers looking to renew their qualifications and new entrants who are starting from scratch.
The UK needs renewable installers if it is going to meet the target of ‘Net Zero’ by 2050, presenting a great opportunity for plumbing and heating engineers looking to upskill.
